One was for the maintenance and appearance of a residential yard. The second warning was for the appearance of a construction site. The final warning was issued for an obstructed water meter. Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: Detectives were able to obtain a subpoena from the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office regarding video evidence in a battery investigation. Detectives assisted with the annual Bal Harbour Village Bicycle Rodeo. Detectives are actively investigating a fraud that the victim has now incurred a loss in excess of one million dollars. Several potential subjects have been identified and one is in custody in California. Bal Harbour Village police department is currently working with local and federal agencies to have that subject extradited back to Florida. Detective Gonzalez instructed an "Autism Awareness" class to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 08/06/2017 Arrest/Warrant 10225 Collins Avenue Comments: While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer noticed an unattended motorcycle parked at the exit of the Bellini Condominiums. The officer contacted Bellini staff who confirmed the motorcycle was not authorized to be on the property. A computer inquiry revealed the registered owner of the motorcycle had an outstanding warrant in the amount of $1000 for "No Valid Drivers' License". Moments later, the owner arrived in a taxi and explained to the officers that he had run out of gas. The bike was towed and the owner was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County correctional facility for the outstanding warrant. Date Incident Type Location 08/04/2017 Arrest Traffic & Threats to Kill a Law Enforcement Officer 10200 Block of Collins Avenue Comments: While on routine patrol, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed weaving in and out of the traffic lanes. After the subsequent traffic stop of the violator, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver who also exhibited signs of impairment. The driver failed the roadside field sobriety exercises and was placed under arrest. The driver later refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. While sitting in the back eat of the police vehicle, the driver repeatedly spat all over the passenger compartment of the unit. The driver becam highly belligerent and repeatedly cursed at the officers on the scene. The driver advised the officer that she owned a and was going to kill him and his family. The police vehicle was removed from service until a Hazmat clea n was conducted. The subject's vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene by the rotation towing service. The driver of the vehicle was not impaire and did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was not operational following the crash and was towed from the sc . e.
