The violation was issued to a contractor after they were discovered working past the allowable hours at a construction site, this was a repeat violation. The second warning was issued to a construction site for failing to properly cover a dumpster. A Bal Harbour police officer responded to a complaint of work being performed prior to the allowable hours at the St. Regis property. The officer discovered that the contractor had been stopped by St. Regis staff prior to his arrival. The contractor was warned as to the permitted work hours within the Village. Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: Detectives met with Federal Bureau of Investigation's organized crime unit to discuss the ongoing fraud investigation involving Richard Mille. Detectives conducted an employment background for an incoming Building Department employee. Detectives sent a subpoena request to the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office in reference to an ongoing threats/harassment investigation. Detectives distributed a situational awareness flyer in reference to the graffiti found on Village Hall property. Detectives responded to the listed residence of a suspect possibly in possession of one of the stolen watches from Richard Mille. The suspect was not located at the listed address. Detectives interviewed the victim of an ongoing aggravated battery investigation. The case will be re-classified as a simple battery and the victim signed a non -prosecution form. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 08/18/2017 Traffic Incident 10400 Collins Avenue Comments: While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired tag. During the traffic stop, the officer recovered a very small amount of marijuana from the driver. The marijuana was impounded and the driver was issued a citation for the traffic infraction. BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT • P� HARgpG MIGUEL DE LA ROSA - - lc Acting Chief of Police FLA, Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 08/19/2017 Traffic Incident Harbour Way West/Collins Avenue Comments: While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a vehicle driving in the wrong direction near the entrance of the residential gated community. The officer initiated a traffic stop to determine if the driver was lost or needed assistance. A routine drivers' license check revealed the driver was operating a vehicle with a restricted drivers' license for business purposes only. The driver was issued a criminal traffic citation and his vehicle was towed from the scene. Date Incident Type Location 08/20/2017 Assist Miami Dade County Police Dept. 9801 Collins Avenue Comments: A Bal Harbour police officer provided assistance to a Miami Dade County police officer who stopped a vehicle with a stolen license plate. The Miami Dade County police officer recovered and seized the plate, however, elected not to arrest the driver. Once the scene was cleared, the Bal Harbour officer resumed normal patrol functions. Date Incident Type Location 08/20/2017 Assist Town of Surfside Police Dept. 9580 Byron Avenue Comments: At the request of the Town of Surfside Police Department, a Bal Harbour police officer responded to assist a Surfside officer on the scene of residential burglar alarm. The officers checked the residence and did not locate any signs of criminal activity. Date Incident Type Location 08/22/2017 Arrest / Felony Retail Theft & Warrant 9700 Collins Avenue, Saks Fifth Avenue Comments: Bal Harbour police officers were dispatched to Saks Fifth Avenue regarding a subject in custody for retail theft. The investigation revealed the subject was detained by Saks Fifth Ave loss prevention after exiting the store without paying for the merchandise. A routine local and national criminal history search also revealed the subject had an active warrant for felony criminal mischief in the amount of $2,000.00. The stolen property was recovered and returned to aks Fifth Ave loss prevention officers. The subject was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail for oking. BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT icep- � � �� HARg�R O--1v�vR t MIGUEL DE LA ROSA , 1g-fIt Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 08/23/2017 Arrest / Auto Theft 10800 Collins Avenue, Haulover Marina Comments: While conducting an area check security district, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a traffic infraction as a vehicle exited the district. The officer conducted a traffic stop just over the Haulover Bridge by the marina. The tag attached on the vehicle was not registered nor on file in the state database. A check of the vehicle identification number revealed the vehicle had been reported as stolen out of the State of Virginia. The investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver and the vehicle being towed to the storage lot. The driver was also cited for several infractions and later transported to the Miami Dade County Jail for booking. Completed, Acting Chief Miguel De La Rosa Date: August 24, 2017 5
