The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the
Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The code enforcement unit continues to monitor the Village. Construction sites are returning to their pre -storm
conditions. There was a warning issued to a construction site within the gated community after they failed to repair
their safety fencing.
Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summa Report
Comments:
The Bal Harbour Police Department Investigations Section are investigating a fraud that occurred in the Bal Harbour
Shops, the subject has been identified, and an arrest is imminent.
Bal Harbour Detectives are also investigating a fraud/theft of merchandise in excess of $25,000 and, are currently
pursuing leads in another on -going fraud investigation involving approximately $45,000 in fraudulent purchases.

9700 Collins Avenue, Rolex Store
Comments:
Rolex store employees advised two males entered the store and requested information on purchasing a Rolex watch.
The employees recognized the males from a flyer issued by another store regarding an attempted purchase using a
fraudulent credit card. The males left the store and the employees notified the Bal Harbour police department
communications section. Bal Harbour police officers canvassed the shops and surrounding areas, however, the males
were not located. The Bal Harbour Criminal Investigations section was assigned the case and issued an informational
flyer to the surrounding jurisdictions.

Assist Miami Dade County Police Dept.
Haulover Park Beach
Comments:
Bal Harbour police officers responded to Haulover Beach and provided police assistance to Miami -Dade County police
regarding a fight in progress. Prior to officers' arrival, the individuals were separated. Miami Dade officers remained
on the scene and all Bal Harbour officers returned and resumed normal patrol functions.

Ocean Rescue
Haulover Inlet
Comments:
The Bal Harbour marine patrol officer was alerted by a passing vessel of a destressed male struggling in the Haulover
Inlet. The male, who was being swept out towards the ocean, was rescued by the Bal Harbour marine patrol officer.
During the rescue operation, a second male jumped into Haulover Inlet in an attempt to assist with the rescue efforts.
The male became trapped in the current and could not swim back to his vessel. A Bal Harbour officer who was assisting
from the Jetty, deployed his flotation device and assisted the male out of the water. One male sustained a minor
laceration to his arm and was treated on the scene by Miami - Dade Fire Rescue.

10100 Block of Collins Avenue
Comments:
Bal Harbour police officers and Miami - Dade Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a possible fire on a Miami
Dade Transit Bus. When police and fire personnel arrived, they discovered a minor undercarriage fire and immediately
extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported and all passengers were transferred to another bus.

Comments:
A resident of the Bal Harbour Village gated community called police to report a possible burglary in progress. The
resident became concerned after discovering a partially open garage door. Officers from Bal Harbour, Town of Surfside
and Sunny Isles Beach Canine Units responded to the scene and established a perimeter around the residence. After
conducting a thorough area check, no forced entry or missing property was discovered. Additionally, an extensive area
canvass of the gated community was conducted. A security check was placed on the location through the weekend.

9449 Collins Avenue
Comments:
The Town of Surfside police reported a missing ten year old child. Bal Harbour officers deployed several officers on
foot, golf carts and an ATV to canvass the area for the child. During the search efforts, officers determined the child
was last seen at 128 Camden Drive in Bal Harbour Village. Moments later, the child returned to his home and advised
he had stopped at the Shul of Bal Harbour with some friends before returning home. The child was interviewed by
Surfside Police who confirmed the child was safe.

Motor Vehicle Accident
9900 Block of Collins Avenue
Comments:
A driver of a vehicle traveling south on Collins Avenue lost control and drove onto the median striking a palm tree and
damaging a ground light fixture. As a precaution, Miami Dade Fire Rescue responded and treated the driver. The scene
was photographed and Public Works were notified of the property damage. No injuries were reported.
