Weekly Summary Report
Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The code enforcement unit continues to monitor the Village. There was a warning issued to a contractor working on
the Ritz Carlton property when they were discovered working on a Sunday. The contractor was unaware of the Village
code prohibiting work on Sundays and immediately stopped all work.
Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report
Comments:
The Criminal Investigations Division was able to identify a subject in an ongoing fraud investigation. Subsequently,
the subject was located and taken into custody and a pre -filing conference was scheduled with the Miami Dade State
Attorney's Office. Detective Gonzalez conducted new hire orientation for Ofc. Myers and Ofc. Dorado, consisting of
training in our report writing systems, vehicle crash reporting, state attorney video conferencing, and electronic arrest
form procedures. Detective Gonzalez conducted Autism Awareness training for newly hired officers and several
other officers from the surrounding island agencies. In addition, Detective Gonzalez also instructed the newly hired
officers in CPR, first aid, and blood borne pathogens.

Retail Theft/Fraud Arrest
9700 Collins Avenue, Neiman Marcus
Comments:
Neiman Marcus loss prevention personnel contacted the Bal Harbour police communications and reported a retail theft
involving a fraud being committed by two males and a one female. Several Bal Harbour police officers were dispatched
however, the subjects had fled the store by the time police arrived. A detailed description of the subjects was broadcast
to all officers. As a result, Bal Harbour officers located and detained the two males involved. During the course of the
investigation, the female subject was also apprehended as she attempted to recover her vehicle. Suspecting that one
of the male subjects was providing a false identity, a Bal Harbour officer transported the male to the Miami Dade County
Warrants division. A nationwide fingerprint check revealed the male's true identity. He had an open fugitive felony
warrant from New York with no bond. All three individuals were then transported to the Miami Dade County Jail for
booking and processing.

Retail Theft/Fraud Arrest

Comments:
During the investigation of the aforementioned in progress theft/fraud case, loss prevention advised of two additional
persons making purchases with fraudulent credit cards. These subjects were taken into custody without incident and
all stolen property was recovered. The offenders were later transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. n

Comments:
While conducting radar speed enforcement, a Bal Harbour police officer stopped a vehicle for speeding and reckless
driving. After detecting a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on the person, the police officer attempted to administer
road side sobriety exercises to the driver. After refusing both the road side exercises and breath test, the driver was
arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail.

Grand Theft/Fraud/Forgery Arrest

Comments:
Loss prevention personnel apprehended a male who committed fraud, grand theft and forgery. Bal Harbour police
officers responded and found probable cause for an arrest. The subject was processed and later transported to the
Miami Dade County Jail.

Trespass / Warrant Arrest
9999 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour Tower
Comments:
Bal Harbour police officers were summoned to the Bal Harbour Tower after security personnel observed a subject
trespassing in the pool area and possibly trying to open doors to the cabanas. The subject was detained as she walked
away from the condominium on the beach hard pack. A criminal history check revealed an open out of county warrant
for trespassing with a bond amount of $1000. The subject was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County
Jail for processing.

Shed Burglary
10250 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour Square
Comments:
While conducting security checks, a Bal Harbour police officer was flagged down by the condo manager regarding
missing property. The investigation revealed that sometime during the weekend unknown person(s) entered the rear
property shed and remove landscaping equipment valued at $700 dollars. An extensive area canvass was conducted
but no further leads w discovered at the time. Criminal Investigations detective responded to the scene and took
over the investigate
