The code enforcement unit continues to work with properties who are completing their hurricane related clean-up efforts. Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: The Bal Harbour police investigations section, conducted background checks on two applicants for potential employment with the village. Bal Harbour detectives attended a pre -filing conference with the Miami -Dade State Attorney's Office in reference to an arrest made in a fraud investigation. The Criminal Investigations unit interviewed a victim in an active investigation involving harassment and possible stalking. Noteworthy Incidents ! Arrests Date Incident Type Location 10/29/2017 Arrest 9703 Collins Ave (St. Regis) Comments: Bal Harbour Police were summoned to the St. Regis hotel regarding a guest they suspected would leave the premises before satisfying their bill. Bal Harbour officers arrived and located the hotel guest. A routine criminal history check revealed several active warrants for narcotics possession. The guest was arrested for the active warrants and transported to Jail. Date Incident Type Location 10/29/2017 ADA/Miami Beach 9909 Collins Avenue (Sea View) Comments: Bal Harbour Police were summoned to the Sea View hotel regarding a guest, the Chief Operating Officer for Miami Country Day School who wanted to report threats made via social media. The social media posting depicted a picture of a firearm with a caption "nobody better go to school on Monday". The student was identified and Bal Harbour Officers notified Miami Beach Police who located the juvenile at his home in Miami Beach. Miami Beach Investigators questioned the student who admitted the posting was a joke. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MIGUEL DE LA ROSA Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 10/29/2017 Assist Citizen 241 Bal Cross Drive Comments: Bal Harbour Police were notified of a ruptured water meter near the residence at 241 Bal Cross Drive, when the officers arrived, they noticed water dispensing from the water meter and immediately notified Public Works. Moments later, Public Works personnel arrived and repaired the meter. No injuries or additional damages were reported. Date Incident Type Location 11/02/2017 Suspicious Vehicle 9600 Collins Avenue, SunTrust Bank COMMENTS Bal Harbour police was summoned to the SunTrust Bank regarding a suspicious vehicle left in the parking lot. The unoccupied box truck had a possible altered vehicle identification number, expired registration and the owner/operator was not located. Beach Towing was requested and the vehicle was impounded for safety and proof of ownership. Date Incident Type Location 11/02/2017 Burglary Vehicle 9700 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour Shops COMMENTS Bal Harbour officers were contacted by Bal Harbour Shops Security regarding a vehicle burglary. When the officers arrived, the victims' told the officers when they returned to their vehicle, they noticed the door was slightly ajar and their shopping bags were removed from the vehicle. Crime scene technicians responded and processed the vehicle for fingerprints. Bal Harbour criminal investigations section will conduct a follow-up investigation and coordinate pro -active details in an effort to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
