(October 16, 2007) – As just one more offering in the festivities for Celebrate Tybee this coming weekend, the City of Tybee Island, the Tybee Historical Society and the Savannah Arts Academy’s SkyeLite Jazz Band offer a free outdoor concert on Saturday, October 20th, from 7-9pm on the grounds outside the Tybee Lighthouse. The renowned SkyeLite Jazz Band will be playing music harkening back to the Tybrisa-era jazz when big bands were a part of the enticement to Savannah’s beach. The SkyeLight troupe has been invited to play at venues throughout the SouthEast, the United States, and on the world’s stages in London and China, and they have performed with a number of well-known jazz artists since their founding in 1992. Their performance is sure to please the crowd! Bring your blankets and beach chairs and come to settle in for some great listening at this FREE EVENT with FREE PARKING ALL DAY ON TYBEE! Come earlier in the day to enjoy the food and activities in Memorial Park, the demonstrations and Arts Festival at the Pier and Pavilion, and help us celebrate 120 Years of Tybee Time! The Tybee Lighthouse is reached by traveling east on US Highway 80. Turn left on Campbell Ave, the first traffic light on Tybee. Campbell ends at Van Horne, where you turn left. Take the next right, Meddin Ave, and follow the Tybee Lighthouse signs to the Lighthouse grounds.
