Subject: Sanitary Sewer Line Repair near 189 Bal Bay Drive
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you information concerning a
pending sanitary sewer main line repair near 189 Bal Bay Drive.
During a recent routine maintenance inspection while conducting cleaning and videoing
of the area sanitary sewer lines, damage to a sanitary sewer line was observed. The existing
fifteen -inch (15) diameter sewer line at the referenced location, was found to have several
significant cracks that will require repair/replacement. The total length of this line is two
hundred, seventy linear feet (270), although one-third of its length will be abandoned. The
remaining line with its flows will be re-routed to the new twenty-four inch (24) diameter
sanitary line recently installed during the Phase One Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project.
Village staff and our project owner's representative determined the damage to the existing
line occurred during construction of the Phase One Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project.
The repair scheduled to begin on Monday, November b, 2017 with a duration of the work
to be approximately seven (7) business days excluding holidays and weekends. The
excavation of the road along Bal Bay Drive will be minimal; however, the work requires that
the section of street within the work site is closed while the contractor works at the center
of Bal Bay Drive.
Michael Alvarez, Village Utility Compliance Officer will be overseeing the work from start
until completed. The attached Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan will provide additional
street closure details (See Attached). Resident notification regarding the street closure will
be announce via the Village WENS system and e -blast.
