The code enforcement unit continues to work with properties who are completing their hurricane related clean-up efforts. Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: Detectives attended a meeting at the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office in reference to an appeal regarding a conviction in a past fraud investigation. Detectives developed an operational plan to address the recent automobile burglaries that have occurred in the Bal Harbour Shops. Noteworthy Incidents 1 Arrests Date Incident Type Location 11/03/2017 Arrest / Dealing in Stolen Property 9700 Collins Avenue, Saks Fifth Avenue Comments: Bal Harbour police officers were summoned to Saks Fifth Avenue by a loss prevention officer regarding a person attempting to return stolen property. The investigation revealed the property in question had been stolen during a vehicle burglary that occurred in the Bal Harbour Shops the previous day. The person involved was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. The criminal investigations section is conducting a follow-up investigation and actively pursuing investigative leads. Date Incident Type Location 11/03/2017 Suspicious Person 2 Harbour Way Comments: The Bal Harbour police department received a call regarding a suspicious person walking through the residential gated community. Bal Harbour officers located the suspicious person walking on Collins Avenue. It was later determined the individual was homeless and had inadvertently walked into the gated community. The individual was offered homeless shelter assistance; however, declined any social services assistance. The male did not have any warrants, and boarded a Miami Dade County transit bus and left the area. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Hp Bo ' MIGUEL DE LA ROSA Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report 1�r Date Incident Type Location 11/04/2017 Traffic Incident 300 Block of 96 Street COMMENTS While conducting traffic enforcement along the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer observed a male driving a scooter on the sidewalk. The Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop, subsequent investigation revealed the driver was operating the scooter with a suspended Florida driver's license. The scooter was towed and the driver was issued multiple criminal citations and released on scene. Date Incident Type Location 11/05/2017 Arrest/Theft 9909 Collins Avenue, Sea View Hotel COMMENTS The Bal Harbour police department was alerted to fraudulent credit card activity occurring at the Sea View Hotel. Bal Harbour officers arrived and located two individuals who had used the victim's credit card. A routine computer check revealed one of the individuals had multiple active warrants for possession of narcotics. Both individuals were arrested and transported to jail. Date Incident Type Location 11/08/2017 Information 259 Bal Bay Drive COMMENTS Bal Harbour police officers were dispatched to a possible residential burglary involving two white males who had left the scene. A perimeter was immediately established around the home. After a brief investigation, it was determined that the individuals in question were city employees conducting a site survey.
