CITY OF TYBEE ISLAND OFFERS 3rd ANNUAL
“OPEN HOUSE - CAMPGROUND CELEBRATION”
AT RIVER’S END CAMPGROUND & RV PARK
Tybee Island, Ga. – (September 12, 2008) The City of Tybee Island is proud to offer a showcase
where life and lifestyle meet at the River’s End Campground & RV Park. This free event is a
“homecoming” for those who frequent from far away while providing an opportunity to those who
live locally to celebrate the partnership forged in July of 2006 between the City of Tybee Island
and the Chatham County Recreational Authority. This initiative made the preservation of the
property possible to serve as a timely reminder of the passive and pastoral nature of Tybee’s days
of yore. As a celebration of these opportunities, the City of Tybee Island invites all citizens to
experience the atmosphere offered at the campground with an “Open House - Campground
Celebration” on Friday evening, November 21, 2008 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the
River’s End Campground & RV Park.
Sites are still available for the weekend! Parking will be available at the City of Tybee Island Police
Station located on Van Horne Street. From there, the campground is just a short hike down Fort
Avenue on the right. Campers of all ages are welcome as we cook hotdogs on the grill or by the
campfire and wrap up the meal with a delectable, old-time favorite, S’Mores. (For those of you
who don’t know what a S’More is, it’s a sandwich of graham cracker and chocolate bar with a
roasted marshmallow. . . Delicious!) Festivities will include a look at a nationally-aired program
that showcased the campground over the last year on the Outdoor Life Channel and on RVTV
(Canadian public television), as well as a hay ride for children, face painting, and other fun stuff!
The City of Tybee Island would like to thank the sponsors of this event for their support to make
this event successful. These include Doyle Landscaping Inc., Caitlin’s Coastal Creations, American
Legion Post #154, Douglas Jones of Fish Art, Savannah Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Wal-Mart,
and the Tybee Island YMCA.
