Visitors are invited to take a lunch time tour of over two dozen travel traile rs decorated by members of Sisters on the Fly. Started in 1998 by Maurrie Sussman and her sister Becky while fly fishing in Montana, Sisters on the Fly are a group of women offering empowerment and sisterhood through exceptional outdoor adventures. With no age, color, religion, or political affiliation, the group is tasked to ―have more fun than anyone!‖ The smaller, vintage trailers are perfect for women to use—lightweight, easy to tow and hitch/unhitch by one person. Each camper pampers its owner with matching indoor/outdoor décor, plush bedding, feather beds, quilts, antiques, real dinnerware, linen tablecloths and napkins. Trailers are all brands—Scotty’s, Aloha’s, Scotsman’s, Shasta’s, Tagalong’s, Aljo’s Airstreams, —too many to list—even homemade trailers. Most are 1950’s – 1970’s vintage—although some are older, and there are a few new trailers, too— pop-up’s and tents as well. Be sure to visit the web site http://www.sistersonthefly.com/ to view hundreds of pictures of these road-wise trailers, lovingly decorated. They are sure to bring back memories of camping and traveling for many and may stir the call of the road for some who haven’t yet heard it! There are more than 900 registered members in the group, and most of their trailers are represented on their web site. Tickets for the event go for a donation of $12 at River’s End Campground on Tybee Island at 915 Polk Street, (912)786 - 5518, and at Seaside Sisters at 1207 Hwy 80, (912)786-9216. Proceeds will benefit the St. Michael’s School Scholarship Fund. Visitors to the River’s End Campground event will take a self-guided walking tour among the trailers in the camp and settle in to enjoy a traditional Cowgirl Camp Lunch consisting of perhaps a PB&J or pimento cheese sandwich, a bag of potato chips, an oatmeal cookie or Moon Pie, and Coca-Cola drinks, all provided by Seaside Sisters. The Sisters on the Fly will keep their trailers open to visitors between 11am and 1pm, while the Seaside Sisters will be making lunches from 11am until 2pm. Only 300 lunches will be served, so call for reservations or purchase your tickets early. Come for lunch on April 12th and have more fun than anyone at River’s End Campground!
