A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A GRANT APPLICATION
TO THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
WHEREAS the Common Council of Richmond, Indiana recognizes the need to
provide safe and affordable housing within its corporate limits, and
WHEREAS the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as
amended, authorizes the Indiana Department of Commerce to
provide grants to local units of government to meet the housing and
community development needs of low and moderate income
persons, and
WHEREAS the City of Richmond, Indiana, desires to assist in the conversion of
the Atlas Underwear factory into approximately 79 apartments for
housing senior citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, that the Department of Administration is
authorized to submit a grant application to the Indiana Department of
Commerce for financial assistance from the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development Community
Development Block Grant Program to assist in the conversion of the
Atlas Underwear factory into approximately 79 apartments for
elderly housing.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this kith day of March, 1992, by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana.
