Subject: Google Maps Global Positioning System (GPS) Update
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to inform you on the police department's
request to have Google Maps update their GPS mapping system regarding the
appropriate access point to the security district.
At the direction of Chief De La Rosa, the police department submitted a request to Google
Maps to re-route drivers utilizing Google Maps GPS to identify addresses within the
security district to the appropriate entry point. Presently, Google Maps coordinates directs
vehicles to enter the security district through the residents only entrance on Bal Bay Drive.
After reviewing the police department's appeal, Google Maps honored the police
department's request, drivers using Google Maps GPS and navigation systems will be -
routed to the Harbour Way West guard gate entrance.
