A GENERAL ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE COMPOSITION
OF THE STREET TREE COMMISSION
WHEREAS the Street Tree Commission was adopted by Ordinance 47-1986; and
WHEREAS it is necessary to further amend the composition of the Street Tree Commission
Ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
that the Street Tree Commission Ordinance be amended as follows:
Delete all of Section 97.02 of the Richmond Code and insert all of the following:
97.02 STREET TREE COMMISSION
There is hereby established a Street Tree Commission of ten (10) members, all of who shall be
voting members of the Commission. The members shall be as follows:
(1) Three (3) citizen members to be appointed by the Mayor, for
3 year staggered terms beginning with 1, 2 & 3 year terms
respectively;
(2) Three (3) citizen members to be appointed by City Council,
for 3 year staggered terms beginning with 1, 2 & 3 year terms
respectively;
(3) One (1) member appointed by the Richmond Advisory Plan
Commission;
(4) The Director of the Department of Public Works, Sanitation
and Aviation;
(5) An employee of the Department of Parks and Recreation
having responsibility for the care of trees who shall be designated by
the Superintendent of said department; and
(6) A member of Richmond Common Council designated by the
President of the Council.
Street Tree Commission members will serve without compensation (gratis). The Street Tree
Commission shall elect their own officers from the members of the Commission. They shall make
their own rules for conducting their meetings.
