HomeMy Public PortalAbout2019.091 (08/08/19) RESOLUTION. 2019.091 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE IMPERIAL HIGHWAY CORRIDOR CAPACITY ENHANCEMENTS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AND LOS ANGELES COUNTY METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY • (LACMTA) WHEREAS, Measure R set aside traffic improvement project funding of $590 million for 1-710 South and/or Early Action Projects of which $160 million was allocated to non-freeway improvements ; and WHEREAS, staff is proposing improvements on Imperial Highway from Long Beach Boulevard to Atlantic Avenue, which currently experiences high average daily traffic, significant delay and unreliable travel times; and WHEREAS, the proposed Imperial Highway Corridor Capacity Enhancements Project (Project) aims to reduce delay and improve the traffic operation by implementing geometric improvements while minimizing impacts to the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, on October 25, 2018, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) programmed $865,000 in Measure. R Funds to the City for project approval and environmental document; and plans specifications and estimates phases of the Project; and WHEREAS, to accept the funding, the proposed Imperial Highway Corridor Capacity Enhancements Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Lynwood and LACMTA has been prepared to set the terms of the collaboration. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council approves the Imperial Highway Corridor Capacity Enhancements Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Lynwood and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority attached hereto as Exhibit A. SECTION 2. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager to execute the above mentioned MOU in a form approved by the City Attorney. SECTION 3. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Lynwood, California, this 8th day of August 2019.
