The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the
Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The code enforcement unit issued ten warnings within the gated community this week. The first warning was issued
to a residential property for appearance issues, the remaining nine warning were issued to residential properties for
leaving bulk waste out several days prior to the scheduled pick-up day of Thursday.
Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report
Comments
As part of an ongoing criminal investigation, Bal Harbour detectives identified a subject in an active grand theft
investigation. The detectives successfully located the subject and effectuated an arrest.

COMMENTS
While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop
on a vehicle that committed a traffic infraction, when the officer engaged the occupants of the vehicle, he discovered
one of the occupants was in possession of illegal narcotics and paraphernalia. The occupant was arrested and
transported to jail.

COMMENTS
While patrolling the 96 Street corridor, a Bal Harbour officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that committed a traffic
infraction, during the encounter, the officer detected a scent of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. After a brief
inquiry, the driver surrendered a small amount of narcotics to the officer. The driver was arrested and released on a
Promise to Appear (PTA) in court.

COMMENTS
While conducting a random security check of the Bal Harbour Shops parking garage, a Bal Harbour officer detected a
scent of marijuana emanating from the parking garage, the officer canvassed the parking garage and tracked the scent
to an occupied vehicle. The officer engaged the driver and conducted an inquiry. The driver of the vehicle admitted
to smoking marijuana and surrendered the remaining amount. The driver was arrested and released on a Promise to
Appear (PTA) in court.

COMMENTS
A Bal Harbour officer assigned to the Collins Avenue traffic mitigation detail was alerted to a vehicle stopped in traffic
with a distinct odor of marijuana emanating from the passenger compartment. The officer approached the vehicle and
conducted an inquiry. The officer later determined the driver was in possession of marijuana. The driver was arrested
and released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) in court.

A Bal Harbour police officer conducted a traffic stop on a driver who violated a traffic control device, while speaking
with the driver, the officer determined the driver was in possession of illegal narcotics. The driver was arrested and
transported to jail.

COMMENTS
The Town of Surfside police received a call from the on -duty security officer at the Young Israel Synagogue, the guard
told police he observed a person on the roof top parking garage of the Bal Harbour Shops possibly taking pictures. Bal
Harbor officers arrived and located two Bal Harbour Shops' employees who were on their lunch break. Bal Harbour
officers confirmed the individuals were employees of the Bal Harbour Shops.
