ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN THE SOUTH END
BUSINESS DISTRICT OF TYBEE ISLAND
Tybee Island, GA – (March 4, 2009) This weekend, clocks will spring ahead, and we will have more time to
enjoy the daylight! When the time changes for spring, people become rejuvenated and are more ready for new
excitement. Tybee Island's downtown is seeing some exciting changes!
As revitalization efforts continue and businesses prepare for the upcoming season, residents and visitors will
witness a few improvements and more options downtown. The old location of Scandals at 1518 Butler Avenue
is being renovated and improved for the Rock House. The property owners plan to open The Rock House
around springtime with a full kitchen and bar.
Next door, at 24 Tybrisa Street, will be Brass Anchor Tattoo. After taking a hiatus from the beach for a little
over a year, they have decided it is too hard to stay away from this special island! They plan to open this
month.
Continue along Tybrisa, and you will find a new concept has hit the street with the opening of Csidesurf at 22
Tybrisa Street. At Csidesurf you will find your office away from home with computer services, printing, wifi,
fax and computer repair. Children will also find fun inside with Guitar Hero and other computer games.
Seaside Sweets at 18B Tybrisa Street is opening soon and provides that nostalgic feel of sweets beachside!
With a vintage flair, kids can choose their candies and novelty fun while the adults get to enjoy pralines and
blended creams drinks.
Waves, at the north corner of Tybrisa and Butler, had a fire in February which damaged the interior of the store.
Many fondly remember that this corner was the Bus Depot years ago. The owners are looking at the bright side
and working diligently to ensure the store is open again in the spring. In the meantime, their sister stores along
Tybrisa and on the North End of the Island will help with merchandise sales.
And, as you stroll down Tybrisa and turn right onto The Strand by Christy's Department Store, you may start to
hear noises from down the street. Spanky’s Beachside at 1605 Strand is renovating their upstairs. This exciting
project will open up more opportunities for private parties, receptions, and other entertainment. They anticipate
a grand opening in the springtime.
Shop, dine and enjoy the land and the sea year round on Tybee!
