Mayor Brotherton presiding* Councilmembers present: Morgans Formanek, Potter and Stratton. Absent: Janssen. Formanek moved to dispense with approval of the May 12th minutes until the regular June meeting. Morgan seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Formanek moved to pay the $1251.25 tax assessable on water sales from July 12 1971 to April 19 1976 to the Iowa Department of Revenue, Sales and Use Tax Division from the water fund reserve account. Stratton seconded. Potter, nay; Stratton, aye; Morgan, aye; and Formanek, aye. Motion carried. Potter moved to appeal the $1251.25 tax assessable arrears, $146.52 penalty and $170.04 interest charges. Morgan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Potter made a motion to install five ton embargo street signs within the corporate limits of the City. Morgan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Potter moved to bill Johnson County for the sewer rental charges retro-active to November 10 1972 for the John Stahmer account. Formanek seconded and motion carried unanimously. Morgan moved to adjourn, seconded by Potter and motion carried unanimously. Beverly irtcher Clerk -Treasurer 5/2 6/7 6 TOWN OF TIFFIN TIFFIN, IOWA 52340 May 12, 1976 The Tiffin City Council met for regular session at 7:30 p.m. on May 12, 1976 at City Hall. Mayor Brotherton presiding. A quorum was not present. Roll call made at 9:1 0 p.m. with quorum present. Councilmembers present: Morgan, Formanek and Stratton. Absent: Potter and Janssen. Also present: Atty. Neuzil, Tom Mittman, Dennis Brown, Paul Springmire and Betty Puschinsky. Morgan moved to approve the April 14th regular meeting minutes, seconded by Stratton and carried unanimously. Amotion to accept the corrected financial statement was made by Stratton, seconded by Morgan and carried unanimously. The Clerk-Treas. was directed to transfer $5500.00 from the water savings account to the water fund certificate of deposit for three months. Morgan moved to accept the unit prices per bid submitted by L.L. Pelling Co. for street repairs. Formanek seconded and motion carried unanimously. Stratton moved to appoint an animal control officer, set up fee rules and send out notices to the community. Morgan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Formanek moved to establish a $10.00 impoundment fee and $3.00 per day boarding fee. If dog is not claimed within 72 hours from time of impoundment, the dog will be transferred to the jurisdiction- of the Iowa City Animal Shelter. The animal control officer whall have discretion as to the impound- ment of a dog or the issuance of a warning to the owner. Morgan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Formanek moved to appoint Janis Stratton as animal control officer with all the duties and responsibilities as directed. Morgan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Formanek moved to approve an application for a garage building permit subject to the 5 foot ordinance provision to Paul Springmire at 210 Railroad Street. Morgan seconded and motion carried unanimous- ly. A motion to approve an application for building a house at 113 College Street by Dennis Brown was made by Morgan, seconded by Formanek and carried unanimously. Morgan moved to pay all bills as presented after corrections and additions and to accept all receipts. Formanek seconded and motion carried unanimously.
