HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-18-15 Police Pension Board Meeting MinutesMINUTES OF THE PLAINFIELD POLICE PENSION BOARD MEETING ON MAY 18, 2015 AT THE LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER 14300 COIL PLUS DRIVE PLAINFIELD, IL 60544 CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Pres. J. Cook at 1600 hours. ROLL CALL: Present: Pres. J. Cook, Sec. R. Meszaros, Trustees M. Fisher and S. Cousins Absent: Trustee A. Grod Others present: Atty. Evan Haim, T. Sawyer, J. Falduto, and Derek Flessner MEMBER PRESENT: None APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Cousins to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2015 meeting as presented. Motion was seconded by Pres. Cook. Voice vote was taken and motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT: None FINANCIAL REPORTS. A motion was made by Trustee Fisher to accept the financial report as prepared by Lauterbach & Amen through March 2015. Motion was seconded by Trustee Cousins. Roll call vote taken: Pres.Cook-yes, Sec. Meszaros-yes, Trustee Fisher-yes and Trustee Cousins-yes. Motion carried. APPLICATIONS FOR BENEFITS: None UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Tom Sawyer presented the investment performance report dated March 31, 2015 to the Board. After some discussion Trustee Cousins made a motion to accept the report at presented. The motion was seconded by Pres. Cook. Roll call vote taken: Pres. Cook-yes, Sec. R. Meszaros-yes, Trustee Fisher-yes, Trustee Cousins-yes. Motion carried. The complete report will be on file in the pension office for review. Elections were held and Mike Fisher and Andy Grod will be serving another term. Both were unopposed. Their term begins May 12, 2015 and ends April 30, 2017. Motion to accept election results was made by Pres. Cook and seconded by Trustee Cousins. Voice vote taken: Trustee Fisher abstained. 3-aye. Motion carried. Congratulations Mike and Andy. Jeff Cook was reappointed by Mayor Mike Collins at the Village of Plainfield Board meeting on April 20, 2015. Jeff’s term begins May 12, 2015 and ends April 30, 2017. Congratulations Jeff. We have two officers on disability pensions and it is time to schedule their annual examinations. We asked Mr. Reimer to have INSPE conduct these exams. He accepted and then a motion was made by Trustee Fisher and seconded by Trustee Cousins to handle these appointments. Roll call vote taken: Pres. Cook-yes, Sec. Meszaros-yes, Trustee Fisher-yes, Trustee Cousins-yes. Motion carried. MINUTES OF THE PLAINFIELD POLICE PENSION MEETING MAY 18, 2015 PAGE 2 There were no changes to the Investment Policy at this time NEW BUSINESS CON’T: Authorization needed to have Lauterbach&Amen prepare the Annual Department of Insurance Report. A motion was made by Pres. Cook and Seconded by Trustee Fisher to have Lauterbach&Amen prepare this report. Roll call vote: Pres. Cook-yes, Sec. Meszaros-yes, Trustee Fisher-yes, Trustee Cousins-yes. Motion carried. A reminder was given to all trustees that they must file the Annual Statement of Economic Interest. No changes were made to the Board’s Administrative Rules and Regulation. Due to a conflict with the annual IPPFA Conference in October 2015 a motion was made by Sec. Meszaros and Seconded by Trustee Fisher to move the scheduled board meeting from October 8, 2015 to October 15, 2015. Voice vote taken: motion carried. ATTORNEY REPORT: Mr. Reimer presented and distributed some legal and legislative updates that have occurred since our last meeting. Mr. Reimer reminded us of the Board election in July for the following position: President, V- President, Secretary, Asst. Secretary, OMA Officer and FOIA Officer. Also, Actuary Report status from Lauterbach&Amen. He also stated that there are no closed session minutes to be released. CLOSED SESSION: None ADJOURNMENT: At 1730 hours a motion was made by Trustee Fisher and Seconded by Trustee Cousins to adjourn the meeting. Voice vote taken. Motion carried. Next meeting July 9, 2015.
