A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING MAP IN THE 1900
BLOCK OF STRAIGHT LINE PIKE
WHEREAS the zoning map designates property located in the 1900 block of Straight Line Pike,
more particularly described as follows: beginning at the intersection of the
corporation limit and the west edge of Straight Line Pike; thence northwardly along
Straight Line Pike 427.95 feet; thence west 159.39 feet; thence southwestwardly
along the right-of-way line of U.S. 27 434 feet; thence east along the corporation
line 217 feet to the place of beginning, as R-2 One Family Residence District, and
WHEREAS it is desirable to change the zoning designation to C-4 General Business District to
conform with the uses of adjacent property and the Master Plan for land use adopted
in 1991,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
that the zoning designation of the following described property is hereby changed to C-4 General
Business District, to -wit: beginning at the intersection of the corporation limit and the west edge of
Straight Line Pike; thence northwardly along Straight Line Pike 42795 feet; thence west 159.39
feet; thence southwestwardly along the right-of-way line of U.S. 27 434 feet; thence east along
the corporation line 217 feet t the place of beginning.
Passed and adopted this day of August, 1992 by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana.

Dear Mr.Elstro, Members of Common Council and
Mrs. Carnes:
The Richmond Advisory Plan Commission conducted a public hearing on
Tuesday, July 28,1992 on the petition of Richard H. Terwilliger owner;
requesting a rezoning from R-2 One Family Residence District to C-4
General Business District on property located in the 1900 block of
Straightline Pike beginning at the intersection of the corporation limit and
the west edge of Straightline Pike 427.95 feet; thence west 159.39 feet;
thence southwestwardly along the right -of way line of U. S. 27 434 feet;
thence east along the corporation line 217 feet to the place of beginning.
Eleven (11) notices were sent to surrounding property owners. Nine V4W
returned in oppositon. Several area residents spoke against this petition
due to concerns of storm water and traffic at intersection of Boston Pike
and U.S.27.
Planning Staff recommended approval of the request siting the request was
in compliance with the Master Plan and a natural continuation of the existing
General Business District.
The Plan Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the
petition to Common Council.
