LETTER TO COUNCIL
NO. 026-2018
Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a positive public
commentary received from a family who recently relocated from the state of Georgia to
Bal Harbour Village.
On February 5, 2018, Captain Raleigh Flowers met a couple and their two young children
walking on the beach hard pack path. During the encounter, the couple told Captain
Flowers after visiting Sunny Isles Beach, Surfside, and several other local intracoastal areas,
that they decided Bal Harbour was the place they wanted to live and raise their children.
The couple graciously explained to Captain Flowers that the one dominating factor which
influenced their decision to make Bal Harbour their home was the level of positive
interactions they received from our Bal Harbour Police Officers. The couple reiterated the
relations with our Officers made them and their children feel welcomed and safe. In fact,
the couple's young daughter remembered an Officer's full name and provided a detailed
account of her experience with the Bal Harbour officer and the police mementos she
received.
This unsolicited public commentary serves as a testament to our officers' commitment to
the Police Department's community policing and engagement philosophy.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact
Captain Raleigh Flowers at (305) 205-6848.
