Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to inform you that the Beach Renourishment
Workshop has been scheduled for Monday, February 26 at 7:00 pm at the Sea View Hotel.
Like many municipalities up and down the coast, Bal Harbour is concerned about the
continuing erosion of the beach sand along its shore. Bal Harbour's beach is integral to
tourism, recreation and the quality of life in our Village. In December 2017, the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers completed a dredging project that included the pumping of 37,000
cubic yards of sand from the Intracoastal Waterway near the Haulover Inlet onto the Bal
Harbour Beach.
At the Workshop, Village staff and representatives from Miami -Dade County and the State
of Florida will discuss steps already taken to address this issue as well as future efforts to
keep the beach healthy.
