AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF
RICHMOND TO RECEIVE BUILD INDIANA FUNDS
WHEREAS Indiana Public Law 240-1991 (SS2), Section 30, recommended that $200,000 be
made available to the City of Richmond, Indiana, for general infrastructure
improvements from the Build Indiana Fund, and
WHEREAS this grant was approved by Governor Evan Bayh and the State Budget Agency on
June 17, 1992, and
WHEREAS the specific projects to be funded by said grant must be specifically set forth in the
grant acceptance letter to be executed by the Mayor, and
WHEREAS the Common Council has the option of accepting or rejecting grants for specific
purposes, and
WHEREAS the acceptance of grants for specific purposes constitutes the appropriation for
authorizing the expenditure of such funds in the same legal manner as any other
claims,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
that the grant of $200,000 from the State of Indiana's Build Indiana Fund is accepted and that
specific projects be funded as follows:
A. Installation of the German -American Friendship Garden as an expansion of
the existing rose garden in Glen Miller Park - $20,000;
B. Installation of signage at entrances to the City of Richmond - $10,000;
C. Grade and pave North 10th Street parking lot - $20,000;
D. Grade and pave South 6th Street parking lot - $55,000;
E. Structural repairs to Charles House in Glen Miller Park - $9,250;
F. Repair and construction of curbs, gutters, drains and streets - $85,750.
Be it further ordained that said grant be receipted into a separate fund, be properly titled by the City
Controller and not be commingled with other funds within the accounting system.
Be it further ordained that expenditures may be made only for the specific projects described herein
after claims have been filed and approved in the same legal manner as other claims.
Passed and adopted this 3rd day of August, 1992 by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana.
