A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE,
FLORIDA; RECOGNIZING DR. ELLIOT TYLER FOR HIS
EFFORTS TOWARDS THE SUCCESSFUL RESTORATION OF
THE KEY BISCAYNE BEACH; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Dr. Elliot Tyler worked closely with the area's
congressional delegation to secure federal cooperation and
coordinated with other federal officials to facilitate the
renourishment of the Key Biscayne Beach; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Elliot Tyler secured the private funding component
of the project and was successful in obtaining over $1.0 million;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. Elliot Tyler's efforts resulted in the restoration
of over 2.4 miles of severely eroded Key Biscayne shorefront and the
overall project is recognized nationally as one of the most
successful ever completed both in terms of its proven durability and
its impact on the community; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Elliot Tyler is credited, more than any other
individual, with the 1987 restoration of the Key Biscayne Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF KEY
BISCAYNE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the Village Council hereby recognizes Elliot
Tyler for his efforts towards the successful restoration of the Key
Biscayne Beach.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
adoption.
