The original series, which started with a Georgia Council for the Arts’ Grassroots Arts grant, received support from the City of Tybee Island, sponsorships, individual donations, and tremendous positive response! Thanks to ongoing support and popular demand, the series will continue for three more months. Megan Panther and Darryl E. Van Horne will be performing Thursday, May 20 from 5:30PM – 6:30PM at the Tybrisa / Strand Roundabout near the Walter W. Parker Pier & Pavilion. Panther teamed up with Van Horne when she was invited to perform with a regional favorite, The Permanent Tourist, with which Horne performs. Music lovers experience the dynamic duo often at hot spots around Bluffton, Savannah and Wilmington Island. As seasoned corporate performers, their shows have included Southern Living’s “Music to Your Mouth” and performances at the famous Fontaine Bleu in Miami. The two have also recorded several original songs that can be found at www.meganpanther.com. Panther says, “We are looking forward to introducing our brand of music to the great crowd at Third Thursday!” Enjoy strolling and experiencing the shops, restaurants and outdoors around Tybrisa and The Strand on the southern portion of the Tybee Business Corridor while taking in a listener’s delight. This music series provides free family-friendly outdoor music. (Rain location will be at Fannies on the Beach.) Future Third Thursdays will include the ViGuBa Trio also playing at the roundabout on June 17, and Jan Spillane at the Tybee Oaks on the island’s North End on July 15. These concerts are made possible with assistance from the City of Tybee Island and sponsorship support of WRHQ radio, Creative Approach, ConnectSavannah, and The Tybee Times. A portion of Tybee’s Better Hometown Initiative’s mission is to “support and encourage the arts as a cultural endeavor and economic engine on the Island.” Third Thursdays on Tybee continues the awareness that Tybee Island has an inviting and thriving arts community.
