Spillane, who plays the guitar and piano, will bring her true Southern artistic musical blend of blues, soul and country to the program. Over the years, Spillane has recorded four albums with another album coming out by the end of 2011. Her inspiration comes from a diverse mix of favorite musicians and songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Billie Holliday, Van Morrison, B.B. King, John Mellencamp, and John Lennon. Jan has worked in the studio, performed and shared stage with a long list of famous artists including, but not limited to, Annie Allman, Ricardo Ochoa, Lauren Lapointe, Phil Hadaway, Bill DeYoung, Amy Kagan, and Darryl Wise. Currently, she performs as a solo artist and/or as a duo, locally and frequently in Nashville, TN. She is looking forward to sharing her passion for music with those that come out to the lot at Tybee Oaks Thursday, July 15. Enjoy strolling and experiencing the shops, restaurants and outdoors around the northern portion of the Business Corridor while taking in a listener’s delight. This music series provides free family-friendly outdoor music. In case of inclement weather, Spillane will perform inside Huc-a-Poo’s Bites & Booze. These concerts are made possible with assistance from the City of Tybee Island and sponsorship support from WRHQ radio, Creative Approach, Connect Savannah, and The Tybee Times. Part of Tybee Island’s Better Hometown Program mission is to “support and encourage the arts as a cultural endeavor and economic engine on the Island.” Third Thursdays on Tybee continues to promote awareness of Tybee Island as an inviting and thriving arts community.
