The Savannah Ceili Band will perform at “Third Thursdays on Tybee” November 18
Tybee Island, GA – (November 4, 2010) Tybee Island’s Better Hometown Program is pleased to announce that The
Savannah Ceili (pronounced KAY-lee) Band will perform November 18 from 5:30pm until 6:30pm at the Tybrisa / Strand
Roundabout for Third Thursdays on Tybee, the family-friendly, free, outdoor musical concert series.
The Savannah Ceili Band (SCB) is a Savannah-based group that was formed to promote Irish traditional songs and dance
music. SCB members met through various Irish music jam sessions over the years. The leader of the group is Colleen
Settle, a native of New York and former member of many NYC area Irish bands. The lead singer is Michael Corbett
originally of Boston. He has performed throughout New England and also plays guitar, banjo, and concertina with SCB.
Jerry Stenger lends harmony vocals and the occasional lead vocals to the group while also playing guitar and Irish
bouzouki. Dan O'Connell plays a variety of wind instruments with SCB, including Irish flute and tin whistle, plus button
accordion. Dan and Jerry were members of the Tery Alts, one of the first bands to pr omote Irish music in Savannah.
From Brunswick, Jim Quigley joins SCB to play bodhrán and mandolin.
The band has performed at numerous area festivals such as the Savannah Irish Music Festivals, Tybee Festival of the
Arts, Savannah Folk Music Society's First Friday for Folk Music, Savannah Ocean Film Festivals, and the Savannah Scottish
Games Festivals.
Enjoy a stroll and experience the shops, restaurants and outdoors around the southern portion of the Business Corridor
while taking in a listener’s delight. This music series provides free, family-friendly, outdoor music. In case of inclement
weather, The Savannah Ceili Band will perform inside Fannies on the Beach located on The Strand.
These concerts are made possible with assistance from the City of Tybee Island, private donations, and sponsorship
support from WRHQ-FM and A Creative Approach. Part of Tybee Island’s Better Hometown Program mission is to
