The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the
Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Summary Report
Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The Code Enforcement unit along with all the police officers and supervisors attended noise measurement training this
week. The training was focused on the procedures for investigating noise complaints along with familiarization of the
new equipment.
Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report
Comments:
The Criminal Investigations Division assisted Hallandale and Hialeah Police Departments in a fraud investigation which
involved transactions that occurred in Bal Harbour. Detectives also developed probable cause for the arrest of a subject
identified in an active grand theft investigation. Furthermore, the division authored and distributed a "Need to Identify"
flyer of a subject involved in a theft which occurred at the Bal Harbour Saks Fifth Avenue store.

COMMENTS
Bal Harbour police were summoned to the Bal Harbour Shops (BHS) regarding damage to a vehicle parked inside of
the BHS parking garage. The owner of the vehicle advised the officers he discovered several scratches throughout the
vehicle upon his return. Officers on scene were unable to locate any witnesses to the crime. No injuries or other
damages were reported.

Chief Mark Overton 5k Scholarship
Haulover Park (Eastside)
COMMENTS
The Bal Harbour Police Department in conjunction with the Bal Harbour Rotary Club hosted a 5k run in memory of
Chief Mark Overton. The 5k event attracted numerous participants and several local police academy recruits. All
proceeds from the event will be utilized to provide a scholarship(s) in the name of Chief Mark Overton. The recipient(s)
of the scholarship will be sponsored to attend a local police academy. Several Bal Harbour officers and employees
volunteered their time and participated in this notable event.

National School Walk -Out
Ruth K Broad K-8 School
COMMENTS
In preparation for the National School Walk -Out, Bal Harbour officers assisted Bay Harbour Island police at Ruth K
Broad K-8 School. Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor Island officers assumed several positions around the school to ensure
safe passage for the students, faculty and parents who participated in the walk. Prior to the start of the walk, the school
administrators notified the officers the students would remain on campus and assemble in the outdoor field area. Bal
Harbour officers remained on scene until the students returned to class. No incidents were reported.
