Experience Tybee for The Holidays
Tybee Island, Ga. – (December 13, 2010) Holiday celebrations continue this season the Island
way! During Lights on for Tybee, nominations were sought by Better Hometown in an effort to
assist Tybee Beautification Association (TBA) in selecting the Best Decorated Businesses. Every
year, TBA recognizes businesses that show their holiday spirit on their buildings to celebrate the
season. Representatives presented poinsettia awards to the following ten winners with specific
themes being highlighted:
Hidden Treasure on Tybee - Treasure Trove Antiques
I’m dreaming of a White Christmas – Social Club
Most Elegant – Mermaid Cottages
Norman Rockwell Award – Tybee Visitors Center, Solomon Properties & The Savannah
Bank
Best Use of Recycling – Huck-a-Poo’s
Most Whimsical – MacElwee’s
Christmas Classic on the Strand – Spanky’s Beachside
Most Kilowatt Hours – City of Tybee
Most Tybee Style – Crab Shack
A Holly Jolly Christmas – Tybee Market IGA
Many businesses and residents have decorated this year for the festive delight of locals and
visitors. TBA will be doing their annual touring of the Island to present residents with awards for
decorations this month as well.
Holiday activities continue throughout the month as the island prepares for St. Nick’s official
visit and the coming of a New Year, when there will be fireworks at midnight at the Tybee Pier
and the annual Polar Bear Plunge to wake everyone up the morning of January 1st!
