The first warning was issued to a residential property which had left their garbage cans out and visible from the street. The second warning was issued to a residential property which had a palm tree obstructing the water meter preventing a repair. Criminal investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: The criminal investigations detectives identified a perpetrator in an active theft investigation, the detectives will attempt to locate and arrest the perpetrator. Additionally, Bal Harbour detectives provided vital information to the Department of Homeland Security Investigators which lead to the execution of a search warrant and arrest of a major supplier of fraudulent credit cards. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests 03/16/2018 Arrest 10100 Block Collins Avenue COMMENTS While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that committed a traffic infraction. During the encounter with the occupants, the officer detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. After a brief inquiry, the occupants of the vehicle surrendered the marijuana. The occupants were arrested and released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) in court at a later date. 03/17/2018 Arrest 9800 Block Collins Avenue COMMENTS While conducting radar enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle, a routine history check of the driver revealed an active arrest warrant for welfare fraud. The driver was arrested and transported to the jail. 03/21/2018 Suspicious Person 9703 Collins Avenue, St. Regis COMMENTS St. Regis security personnel summoned officers regarding a male on their property who appeared to be sleeping on the lawn. Bal Harbour police officers responded and discovered that the male was homeless. A complete local and national history check revealed no open warrants or missing person's notification. The male refused any assistance or shelter and continued on his way to the Miami area. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Acting Chief Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 03/21/2018 Disturbance 2 Harbour Way, Kent Security Guard House COMMENTS Bal Harbour police officers responded to the Kent Security Guard House regarding a disturbance between the guard and a person employed by a resident. Officers discovered that the worker became irate with the guard after being asked to produce identification. Police officers explained to the worker the security district guidelines and that the residential area is private property. No further action taken and the officers cleared without further incident. Date Incident Type Location 03/22/2018 Suspicious Incident 10200 Block Collins Avenue COMMENTS A Ritz -Carlton security supervisor notified police regarding a possible suspicious package by Frontage Road. The investigation revealed the package to be a bag containing trash. The police officer properly discarded the bag and placed it in a waste can.
