Weeks Code Enforcement Efforts
The Code Enforcement unit issued three warnings within the gated community this week. There were two warnings
issued to residential properties for having bulk waste visible from the public right of way prior to the scheduled pick up
day. The third warning was issued to a construction site for an appearance issue.
Criminal Investi • ations Division Weekl Summa Report
Comments:
In an effort to identify a perpetrator in an active theft investigation, the criminal investigations detectives published
informational flyers to the surrounding police agencies. Additionally, detectives located and arrested a perpetrator in a
separate theft investigation. During the investigative interview, the perpetrator confessed to the theft. The perpetrator
was arrested and charged accordingly.

03/25/2018 Damaged Property
96 Street & Bal Bay Drive
COMMENTS
While on routine patrol, a Bal Harbour officer noticed the 96 Street pedestrian gate was damaged. The officer contacted
Kent Security to review the surveillance footage, however, the cameras were inoperable. Public Works personnel
responded and repaired the pedestrian gate.

Arrest
10100 Block Collins Avenue
COMMENTS
While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer observed a vehicle stationary on Collins Avenue with
the engine idling. The officer initiated a traffic stop to inquire if the motorist needed assistance. When the officer
approached the vehicle, he discovered the driver asleep behind the wheel of the vehicle. The officer administered Field
Sobriety Exercises and the driver was subsequently arrested for DUI and transported to jail.

COMMENTS
While conducting a mandatory high visibility detail on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer was flagged
down by a taxi driver. The taxi driver advised the officer the passenger was intoxicated and refused to pay the required
fare. The passenger was uncooperative and was subsequently arrested and transported to jail.

Fraud / IRS Phone Scam
10185 Collins Avenue
COMMENTS
An elderly female resident received a call from an unknown person identifying themselves as an IRS Agent. The caller
instructed the elderly female to purchase five gift cards for $100 each. The elderly female purchased the gift cards and
provided the unknown person with the gift card numbers. Bal Harbour detectives will conduct a follow-up investigation
and prepare elderly crimes pamphlet for distribution.
