Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council
The purpose of this Letter to the Council (LTC) is to transmit to you the results of a security
check at the Bal Harbour Beach Access Path just south of the Oceana.
At a recent Council meeting, we received information that individuals were sleeping on
the park benches located on the access path. As a result, a mandatory security check was
implemented. Bal Harbour Police Officers initiated multiple park and walk security checks
of the beach access. A police sergeant was assigned to track all activity and police action
for 30 days and submit a report to police staff documenting any police response.
Additionally, the sergeant met with Oceana security personnel and notified them of the
information received and asked them to notify their employees and contractors to refrain
from loitering on the beach access path.
After the 30 day security check, the police department did not locate any individuals
trespassing or sleeping on the beach access path, nor were there any additional
complaints received.
