The warning was issued to a vacant lot which had overgrown grass. Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: The Criminal Investigations Division is conducting an investigative inquiry regarding an alleged disability discrimination complaint, the detectives will be securing formal interviews and conferring with the Miami Dade County State Attorneys' Office. Additionally, the detectives attended a pre-trial conference with the United States Attorneys' Office to secure federal indictments in an active fraud investigation. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 04/20/2018 Arrest/Warrants 9900 Block Collins Avenue COMMENTS While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired Florida tag. The investigation revealed the driver had an open arrest warrant for driving with a suspended license. The driver was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. Date Incident Type Location 04/21/2018 Suspicious Incident Ritz Carlton / One Bal Harbour 10295 Collins Avenue COMMENTS The Bal Harbour Police Department received several calls regarding a male armed with a gun in the area of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Bal Harbour officers along with several police officers from the neighboring municipalities responded to the area and located several juvenile males with airsoft guns. The investigation revealed that no crime had occurred and no witnesses or victims came forward. Bal Harbour officers detained the juveniles until their parents arrived at which time they were warned regarding their activities and released to their parents. No injuries or damages were reported 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Acting Chief Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Weekly Summary Report Week of Friday, April 20 — April 26, 2018 Date Incident Type Location 04/22/2018 Arrest/DUI 9700 Block Collins Avenue COMMENTS While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that committed a traffic infraction. When the officer approached the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the driver. The officer conducted roadside sobriety exercises on the driver. The driver was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol and transported to jail. Date Incident Type Location 04/23/18 Arrest/DUI 9800 Block of Collins Avenue COMMENTS While on routine patrol, a Bal Harbour officer observed a vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the investigation, the police officer detected signs of impairment and administered roadside sobriety tests to the driver. The driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. Date Incident Type Location 04/23/2018 Arrest/Drugs 9800 Block of Collins Avenue COMMENTS While conducting radar enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was exceeding the posted speed limit. During the encounter, the officer discovered the motorist was in possession of marijuana. The motorist had a significant criminal history and was arrested and transported to jail. Date Incident Type Location 04/24/2018 Arrest/Warrants 18 Bal Bay Drive, Public Works Parking Lot COMMENTS While conducting a park check, a Bal Harbour officer observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the secure area of the public works parking lot and conducted an investigatory stop on the vehicle. A routine criminal history check revealed the driver had active warrants for Driving Under the Influence and Hit and Run. The driver was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. No suspicious activity or damages were reported. 4 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Acting Chief Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Weekly Summary Report Week of Friday, April 20 — April 26, 2018 Date Incident Type Location 04/26/2018 Arrest/Domestic Violence & Disorderly Intoxication 10200 Block of Collins Avenue COMMENTS The Bal Harbour Police Department received an emergency call of a male beating a female by the roadside. Bal Harbour officers located the individuals involved on the Haulover Bridge. The investigation and physical evidence revealed a domestic battery occurred and both individuals had consumed alcoholic beverages. The victim of the battery was arrested for Disorderly Intoxication and the other individual was charged with Domestic Battery. Both parties were charged accordingly and transported to jail. Date Incident Type Location 04/26/2018 Arrest/Warrant 9900 Block of Collins Avenue COMMENTS While conducting radar traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine criminal history check of the driver revealed an active warrant for driving with a suspended driver's license. The driver was arrested for the outstanding warrant and transported to jail.
