OFFICE OF THE VILLAGE MANAGER
LETTER TO COUNCIL
NO. 077-2018
To: Mayor Gabriel Groisman and Members of the Village Council
From: Jorge M. Gonzalez, Village Manager
Date: April 27, 2018
Subject: Update to the Current Boil Water Notice for the Entire Village
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you information pertaining to
the current Boil Water Notice in place for Bal Harbour Village.
The Boil Water Notice posted on Monday evening April 23, 2018 remains in place until
further notice. The first water test sampling took place on Tuesday April 24, and the second
water sample was collected for testing on Wednesday April 25. Please note, each water
sample test requires a twenty four hour (24) incubation period after the sample is received
at the laboratory. The results of the second water sample test were received this morning.
The test results revealed that one of the six (6) water samples taken during this two day
period, failed to meet the Department of Health (DOH), requirements to lift the Boil Water
Notice. Because the results of the first two rounds of water sample testing did not meet the
DOH requirements for clean drinking water, an additional two consecutive days of water
sample collection and testing are required.
Additional test samples were taken this morning and more test sampling is scheduled for
tomorrow morning. Until the Village receives a laboratory bacteriological survey that
shows the water is safe to drink and the DOH approves the test results, the boil water notice
cannot be rescinded. It is expected that the results of the two new water sample tests will
be received by the Village late Monday afternoon April 30, 2018. We will continue to send
updates via the E -Blast, WENS and Web Page (See Attached), as new information becomes
available to us.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
