Week Code Enforcement Efforts
The code enforcement unit issued one violation and five warnings within the gated community this week. The violation
was issued to a property which was discovered conducting unpermitted work. There was a warning issued to a
construction site for the maintenance of the fencing. The remaining warnings were all for appearance issues involving
the lawns and landscaping of residential properties.
Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report
Comments:
The Criminal Investigations Detectives conducted pre -employment background checks on prospective police
department employees. Additionally, Det. Gonzalez conducted a community Autism Awareness training session aimed
at providing awareness and education on Autism.

St. Regis Hotel
COMMENTS
Bal Harbour officers were summoned to the St. Regis Hotel regarding a theft. The victim told the officer she placed her
jewelry in her robe pocket while she attended a spa treatment. Victim said once she completed the spa treatment, she
returned to her room. The very next morning, the victim noticed her jewelry was missing from her robe. St. Regis
personnel a preliminary investigation and subsequently contacted Bal Harbour police. The Bal Harbour Criminal
Investigations Unit will conduct a follow-up investigation.
05/28/2018 Fire 162 Bal Bay Drive
COMMENTS
Bal Harbour police responded to reports of smoke billowing from an in -ground electrical box. Officers cordoned off the
area until Miami -Dade Fire responded and extinguished the fire. According to Miami Dade Fire and FPL personnel, it
is likely the fire was ignited by the heavy rains and water saturating the electrical box. No injuries or power outages
were reported.

COMMENTS
As a result of the power failure at Harbour Way and Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour police personnel were assigned to
the intersection to ensure the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians traversing through the intersection. FPL
contractors are presently working to permanently restore power in the area.

COMMENTS
In preparation for the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, Bal Harbour police devised a comprehensive operational plan
to address and mitigate any traffic issues or holiday related incidents. There were no holiday related incidents or major
traffic issues reported.
