Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
Comments:
The Code Enforcement unit issued two warnings and one violation within the gated community this week. The first
warning was issued to an individual who was allowing his dog to run loose in the Village. The second warning was
issued to a residential property for the maintenance of their yard. The violation was issued to the owner of a vacant lot
who had been previously warned regarding the appearance of their lot.
Criminal Investigations
Comments:
The Criminal Investigations Division completed their audit of all 2018 cases and has updated the case catalog.
Additionally, Detective Gonzalez was assigned two follow-up investigations this week. The first case involved the
unauthorized use of a vehicle at the St. Regis. The second case involved a dispute which led to a possible battery
and criminal mischief at the Sea View Hotel. The circumstances involved in both of these cases are detailed in the
noteworthy incidents section of this report.

9703 Collins Avenue, St. Regis
Comments:
Bal Harbour police were summoned to the St. Regis regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim told officers she recently
returned to Bal Harbour and requested the valet to bring her vehicle to the front. The victim said when the valet driver
delivered her vehicle, she noticed the vehicle was extremely dirty and some items were missing from inside. St Regis
parking staff acknowledged they mistakenly released her vehicle to an unknown male believed to be related to her.
The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident.

Comments:
Bal Harbour police received a complaint of a vandalism to a vehicle; Bal Harbour officers arrived and spoke with the
owner of the vehicle. The vehicle's owner told officers someone cracked eggs on the rear of his vehicle. Bal Harbour
officers canvassed the area for cameras that could have captured the incident, however no cameras were located. No
other incidents or damages were reported.

Residential Gated Community
Comments:
While patrolling the residential gated community, a Bal Harbour officer discovered the 96 Street resident's entry gate
was stuck in the open position. When the officer attempted to reset the gate, he noticed the control panel box had been
tampered with. The officer was able to reset the box and secure the gate. The officer requested to view the surveillance
cameras, however, the cameras were inoperable. Kent Security personnel and the Bal Harbour Civic Association were
notified of the incident and the inoperable surveillance cameras. No incidents or criminal activity were reported.

10201 Collins Avenue, Oceana
Comments:
While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer observed a suspicious male bypass the security gate
arms and enter private property. The officers stopped the male and conducted an investigative inquiry. A routine
criminal history check revealed the male had an active warrant for Battery on Law Enforcement Officer and Trespassing.
The subject was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail.

9909 Collins Avenue, Sea View Hotel
Comments:
Bal Harbour police were summoned to the Sea View Hotel regarding a parking dispute. The parking supervisor told the
officers he observed a vehicle for hire (Limo Service) parked in a restricted area and asked the driver to move. The
supervisor said the driver became irate and drove away towards the valet area and inadvertently sideswiped a parking
employee. The parking supervisor captured a picture of the driver's tag to report to police. The driver exited his vehicle
and snatched the phone from the parking supervisor and slammed it on the ground damaging the phone. Bal Harbour
officers broadcasted a description of the vehicle and immediately attempted to locate the driver. The criminal
investigations unit will conduct a follow-up investigation.

Narcotics Investigation
10295 Collins Avenue, Ritz -Carlton
Comments:
Bal Harbour police were contacted by Ritz -Carlton security personnel regarding a suspicious incident. Bal Harbour
officers arrived and were directed to one of the hotel rooms. Personnel on scene told the officers that a housekeeper
discovered marijuana and oxycodone in a guest room. The drugs were impounded and the criminal investigations unit
is conducting a follow-up investigation.
