Subject: Unscripted Bal Harbour - Jill Peters: Burneshas of Albania
The purpose of this LTC is to inform you of upcoming art tours through Unscripted Bal
Harbour:
On Sunday, August 26, Unscripted will be hosting an exhibition tour and talk of Burneshas
of Albania with artist Jill Peters. The work documents the lives of rural Northern Albanian
women as they wear traditional men's clothing in order to provide for their families.

MEET IN THE ARTISAN BEACH HOUSE.
Join us for an exhibition tour and talk of Burneshas of Albania with the artist Jill Peters
and guest speaker and essayist Jess T. Dugan. Burneshas of Albania explores a 500 -year
old tradition where women appropriate the dress and role of men in exchange for a vow
of chastity. This tradition, practiced in rural areas of Northern Albanian, is done so that
these people (calledl)_.-rneshas) can provide for their families and live freely. Jill Peters
traveled to Alba wersix years to document some of the last remaining burneshas,
and this is the firsttirrme'these portraits are being shown together as a series, along with
Peters' personal y-- f --meeting them.
