No violations or warnings were issued. Criminal Investigations Comments: The Criminal Investigations Division is actively following leads pertaining to two vehicle burglaries that occurred at the Bal Bridge South apartment complex. Video footage from the premises provided valuable information, allowing the detective to issue flyers and collaborate with neighboring agencies who suffered similar incidents on the same night. Patrol officers are aware of the suspect vehicle's description and are on alert. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 08/04/2018 Fraud / Narcotics Arrest Ritz -Carlton Hotel / 10295 Collins Avenue Comments: Bal Harbour police officers were summoned to the Ritz -Carlton Hotel regarding two individuals using a fraudulent credit card. Officers arrived and met with Ritz -Carlton security personnel. After a brief investigative inquiry, the individuals were arrested for fraudulent use of a credit card and possession of illegal narcotics. Date Incident Type Location 08/05/2018 Narcotics Arrest 10200 Block of Collins Avenue Comments: While conducting traffic enforcement along the Collins Avenue corridor, A Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop. The investigation revealed the driver to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis. The driver was cited for the traffic infraction and arrested for possession of cannabis. The driver was released on the scene after signing a promise to appear. Date Incident Type Location 08/05/2018 Vehicle Burglaries Bal Bridge South / 10230 Collins Avenue Comments: Bal Harbour police officers were requested to the Bal Bridge South Apartments regarding damage to a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle advised the officers someone had smashed the passenger window and rummaged through his car, however, no items were taken. An additional vehicle was also discovered to have been burglarized within the same complex. Bal Harbour Crime Scene responded and processed the vehicles for fingerprints. Bal Habour police officers canvassed the area and located surveillance cameras that may have captured the incident. The Bal Harbour Criminal Investigations Division will conduct a follow-up investigation. No other incidents or damages were reported. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers Jr. Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 08/06/2018 Baker Act 122 Bal Bay Drive Comments: Bal Harbour police officers received a call regarding a naked male who arrived at the front door of the residence. Officers arrived and located the male on the property. The male appeared to be hallucinating and very agitated. Bal Harbour police officers were able to safely secure the male and immediately summoned Miami -Dade Fire Rescue. The male was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Further investigation revealed he had ingested psychoactive narcotics and illegally entered the residential district through the Bal Bay residents' only entrance. Kent Security was advised of the incident and the male was issued a trespass warning. No other incidents or injuries were reported. Date Incident Type Location 08/07/2018 National Night Out 2 Harbour Way Comments: The staff and members of the Bal Harbour Police Department participated in the "National Night Out" community event. National Night Out is an annual community -building campaign that promotes police -community partnerships to create safer neighborhoods. Bal Harbour police officers, along with members of the Village Administration and Council, participated in healthy dialogue with residents and discussed the police department's pedestrian safety initiatives. Date Incident Type Location 08/09/2018 Assist Town of Surfside Police 300 Block of 95 Street Comments: Town of Surfside Police broadcasted a Be On the Look Out (BOLO) for a shoplifting suspect that had just fled the CVS pharmacy. Within a few minutes, a Bal Harbour police officer located the individual and detained him until a Surfside officer arrived.
