The first warning was issued to a vacant property for an appearance issue regarding the maintenance of the lot. The second warning was issued to a residential property for the maintenance of the pool which could present a possible breeding ground for mosquitos. Criminal Investigations Comments: The Criminal Investigations Division assisted the Police Records Section in the compilation of the semi-annual FDLE Uniform Crime Report. Additionally, Lieutenant Arango attended the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) Manager's course in Sanford, Florida. The course provided Lieutenant Arango with updated information and recent changes to accreditation standards. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 08/10/2018 Arrest 96th Street Bus Stop Comments: While patrolling the 96th Street corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a male sitting on the bus bench smoking a marijuana cigarette. The officer approached the male and conducted an investigatory inquiry. A routine history check revealed the male had an active arrest warrant from Miami -Dade County. The male was taken into custody and began threatening the officers. The male was arrested and charged accordingly. Date Incident Type Location 08/12/2018 Assist Citizen Intercostal Waterway Comments: While patrolling the intercostal waterways, the Bal Harbour marine officer observed a capsized vessel in the water. As the marine officer approached the vessel, he noticed several individuals in distress in the water attempting to swim ashore. The marine officer immediately positioned the police vessel in the area and rescued a family of four from the rough waters. The family was placed on the police vessel and taken to the Haulover fuel docks. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue responded and treated the family for non -life -threatening injuries. Date Incident Type Location 08/14/2018 Hazardous Condition 65 Camden Court Comments: Bal Harbour police officers were summoned to the area of 65 Camden Court regarding a possible gas leak. Officers arrived and discovered a construction crew working in the area had ruptured a gas line. Officers contained the area and immediately notified the residents in the vicinity. Miami -Dade Fire and TECO gas personnel responded and repaired the leak. No injuries or further damages were reported. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report ra Date Incident Type Location 08/15/2018 Domestic Threats 10275 Collins Ave / Harbour House Comments: Bal Harbour police officers responded to this location regarding domestic related threats. The male caller advised the officers that his ex-wife had recently made threats to kill him. A watch order was placed at the male's residence and the Criminal Investigations Detective began a follow-up investigation. Date Incident Type Location 08/16/2018 Suspicious Person 9700 Collins Ave / Carpaccio's Comments: Bal Harbour police officers responded to the Carpaccio restaurant regarding a male who was acting erratically. The police officers were able to determine the male was experiencing a crisis. The male agreed to be voluntarily transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
