The first two warnings were issued to properties for appearance issues involving the upkeep of their lawns. The remaining two warnings were issued to properties that had shrubs obstructing the water meters which hindered Public Works' efforts to update the meters. Criminal Investigations Comments: The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating a fraud case involving the use of fraudulent checks and gift cards at a local retailer. Detectives are actively developing information to identify the perpetrators. Additionally, detectives attended a sentencing hearing regarding a 2015 fraud arrest. The defendant was subsequently sentenced to 3 years in prison. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date iicide it T ype "�"Location 08/25/2018 Information 200 Block of Park Drive Comments: While patrolling the residential security district, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered a ruptured water main. The officer immediately notified Public Works personnel who responded and repaired the line. No injuries or other damages were reported. t id Type Incen /, x �/ ! Location 08/28/2018 Open Car Door 10230 Collins Avenue / Bal Bridge South Comments: While conducting a security check of the property, a Bal Harbour officer discovered a vehicle with the door open. An inquiry of the vehicle's tag revealed the registered owner lived at the property. The officer attempted to locate the owner however, was unable too. The officer secured the vehicle and documented the incident. No force entry or criminal activity was detected Date Incident Type Location 8/28/2018 Arrest / Warrants 10200 Block of Collins Avenue Comments: While conducting radar speed enforcement, a Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop. The subsequent investigation revealed the driver had an outstanding warrant out of Broward County. A routine history check revealed the driver had a local active warrant. The driver was arrested and transported to Miami -Dade County Jail. Incident Type Location 08/28/2018 Criminal Mischief 9900 Block Collins Avenue / Beach Side While patrolling the beach hard pack, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered graffiti on the photographic art displayed on the beach path.
