All agreed that the HHC needs to put together a covenant protecting the house. Nancy motioned that we hire Joe Marquedant to find out what we need to do to go forward. Mike seconded. Unanimous approval. CPC CPC moved ahead on approval of historical requests that it received without HHC input. Mike wants us to feel in the loop. HCA-400k approved Mike-I am proud Ken and Eric took care of the fountain on the common. Doughboy-Request for funds to strip black paint off surface. Beth said nothing was said to HHDC even though the Doughboy is part of the Center Historic District. Mike-Perhaps it is because it is just for restoration. Eric-A few years ago it was painted black. Needs to be restored back to original bronze. Nanda-Does it make sense at Town Meeting to put HHC instead of HHDC as supporting the article? Mike-We will get a chance to object to the final article. Beth-Amy Ritterbusch hadn’t heard about this. Nanda-How did this come up? Beth-There will be a bronze statue of a woman runner. Mike- Basically, Eric and I get an email stating what the items are that request CPC funds. Beth-Amy and I went to CPC about the expansion of historic survey. Don’t know what has happened. CPC items requesting support from HHC: Preservation of town records (yes, we support this) HCA renovations-400K (yes) Main Street Historic Properties Survey (yes) White House on high school campus (No) WW1 doughboy statue. Not sure where this stands. Nanda-weird if it ends up on warrant without our input SIGNS Claire said: Ash Street sign and Gatehouse signs are done. EAST MAIN STREET HOUSE (previously on triangle) Beth-People have been asking about the planned use for this house. Claire-Asked HHC to say we believe property is facing demo by neglect, with a penalty of $200/day up to value of property. We could take over ownership of property if he doesn’t pay. Nanda-What happens if he just pays fine? Mike-We can take it over. Beth-People are getting upset because nothing has happened. Mike-I think we need to solve the McFarland Sanger house issue and get it off our plate before we take this on. Mike-Eric is our CPC liaison so we surrogate our authority. Nanda -Painting the White House on school property is the one item we do not support, so we should discuss it. In general there might be some difference of opinion. If our name is on the warrant it implies we support it. 279 HAYDEN ROWE STREET Feb 2, 8:00 AM walk through NOVEMBER MINUTES Presented for approval. Beth motioned approval with one correction. Mike seconded. Unanimous approval. Meeting Closed 8:10 Docs used: November 2019 minutes
