Weekly Summary Report
Weekly Code, Enforcement Efforts
The Code Enforcement Unit continues to check for compliance with the Village code. The code officers assisted with
the management of traffic at the signal which was affected by Tropical Storm Gordon. Additionally, an officer responded
to a report of a barking dog at a property within the gated community and issued a warning.
Criminal Investigations
Comments:
The Criminal Investigation Division in conjunction with the FBI is actively investigating the source of several Anti-
Semitic emails that were sent to the Mayor and council. Additionally, the Criminal Investigation Division created a
"Crime Tips" email link that will allow police to receive crime tips electronically. The CrimeTips BalHarbourFL.gov
has been added to the department's social media sites.

Comments:
Bal Harbour police received an anonymous report of a male firing a rifle into the water behind his home. Officers arrived
and located a male at the rear of the property with a BB gun. Officers explained to the male the potential hazards to
marine life and passing vessels. The male acknowledged those concerns and secured the BB gun in his resident.

Vehicle Burglary
Bal Harbour Shops Parking Garage
Comments:
Bal Harbour officers were summoned to the Bal Harbour Shops parking garage regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim
told the officers when she returned to her vehicle, she discovered her windows broken and several items missing. The
items that were taken had been purchased from the Aventura mall earlier in the day. Miami Beach crime scene
responded and processed the vehicle for fingerprints. Bal Harbour detectives will conduct a follow-up investigation.

Traffic Signal Malfunction
9700 Block of Collins Avenue
Comments:
As a result of the inclement weather conditions from Tropical Storm Gordon, the traffic signal at 9700 Collins Avenue
malfunctioned and was inoperable. Bal Harbour officers managed the intersection until Miami -Dade County Traffic
Control responded and repaired the light. No other weather -related incidents were reported.

9900 Block of Collins Avenue
While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer conducted a traffic stop on
a vehicle that committed a traffic infraction. A routine history check revealed the driver had an active arrest warrant
and was operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers' license. The driver was arrested and transported to jail.
