The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the
Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The Code Enforcement Unit issued one violation within the gated community this week. The violation was issued to a
residential property after workers were observed constructing an unpermitted deck on the property.
Criminal Investigations
Comments:
Detective Hector Gonzalez is attending the Senior Officers Course at Miami -Dade College School of Justice every
Thursday and Friday until the end of November. This is an intensive, 192 -hour course providing instruction in law
enforcement issues, diagnostic problem -solving, and administrative law. Officers completing this program will have a
clear understanding of general management theory, policy development, planning processes, legal issues in criminal
justice, and organizational structure and behavior.

96th Street and Harding Avenue
Comments:
While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop
on a vehicle for a traffic violation. A routine history check revealed the driver had a suspended drivers' license and a
seize tag order issued by the Department of Highway and Safety Motor Vehicles. The tag was seized and the driver
was issued multiple citations.

High Holiday Detail
Village Wide
Comments:
In preparation for the High Holy Days, the Bal Harbour Police Department devised a comprehensive operational plan
to ensure the safety of congregants walking to and from services. Bal Harbour police officers were strategically posted
throughout the Village to assist with pedestrian traffic and to enhance police presence.

Assist other Agency (Surfside)
9519 Harding Avenue
Comments:
At the request of the Town of Surfside police, Bal Harbour police officers responded to 9519 Harding Avenue to assist
with an interior search of a business with an unsecured door. Bal Harbour and Surfside police officers conducted a
search and determined the door had been inadvertently left open. The door was secured and officers resumed normal
patrol functions. No signs of criminal activity were detected.

Arrest / Felony Marijuana Possession 10200 Block of Collins Avenue
COMMENTS:
While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop
near the North Municipal Lot. During the traffic stop, the officer discovered the driver was in possession of a significant
amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and transported to Jail.

Assist Town of Bay Harbor Island Police

Grand Bay Hotel
Bal Harbour police officers responded and assisted Bay Harbor Island police officers that were responding to a call
regarding an attempted suicide. The individual was combative and had several self-inflicted lacerations. When Bal
Harbour officers arrived, Bay Harbor officers had secured the individual. Once the scene was secured, Bal Harbour
officers returned and resumed normal patrol functions.
