Subject: Bal Harbour Police Department Weekly Report for the period of
September 21, 2018 through September 27, 2018
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the
Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Summary Report
Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The Code Enforcement Unit conducted daily checks throughout the Village and inside the gated residential security
district. No violations or warnings were issued.
Criminal Investigations
Comments:
The Criminal Investigations Division assisted the Miami -Dade Special Victim's Unit in the investigation of an adult
having sexual relations with a minor at a beachside condominium. The minor was not a resident of Bal Harbour; she
traveled alone to South Florida from New York. Miami -Dade Police obtained a search warrant for the subject's
apartment and made an arrest without incident.

10150 Collins Admiralty Condominium
Comments:
Bal Harbour officers were notified by the Bay Harbor Police Department that an elderly Bal Harbour resident was living
alone and possibly needed medical assistance. Officers responded to the apartment and discovered it to be in disarray,
and determined the resident was in need of medical assistance. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to the
hospital to be treated for dehydration. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) was contacted and will conduct
a follow-up interview and investigation.

COMMENTS:
While conducting radar speed enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer conducted a traffic
stop on a vehicle that was exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine history inquiry revealed the driver was operating
a vehicle with a suspended drivers' license. The driver was arrested and transported to jail.

COMMENTS:
While conducting traffic enforcement on the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officers initiated a traffic stop on a
vehicle that committed a traffic infraction. A routine history check revealed the driver had an active arrest warrant. The
driver was arrested and transported to jail.

I ntra-Coastal Waterway
COMMENTS:
While patrolling the Intra-Coastal Waterways, the Bal Harbour marine officers were flagged down by a passing vessel,
prior to the marine officers approaching the vessel, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol arrived and advised the boat
captain of the vessel was a person of interest. The Bal Harbour marine officers remained with the Customs officers
until they cleared the scene.

10200 Block of Collins Avenue
COMMENTS:
While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that committed
a traffic infraction. During the encounter, the officer discovered the driver was in possession of marijuana. The driver
was issued multiple traffic citations and arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and released on a Promise
to Appear (PTA) in court at a later date.

9600 Block of Collins Avenue
COMMENTS:
While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer observed a male lying on the lawn near the St. Regis
Hotel. The officer stopped and inquired if the male required medical attention. The male told the officer he was
homeless and did not require medical attention. A routine history check did not reveal any active warrants for his arrests.
Bal Harbour officers offered the male homeless assistance, however, he refused and left the area on the next Miami -
Dade Bus.
