Press Release August 25, 2015 For Immediate Publication: Plainfield’s How-To Fair: October 3-4 50 FREE Workshops: One Interactive, Fun, and Informative Weekend! Plainfield, IL -- Expand your world this fall by learning something new during Plainfield’s Inaugural How-To Fair, October 3-4. In one interactive, fun, and informative weekend, you can engage in over 50 free and different “how-to workshops!” Taught by local experts and business owners, learning opportunities range from how to tile a backsplash to smart travel; from home brewing to making greeting cards; and from holding an estate sale to making the most of your mobile phone apps. Registration for the Fair is now open, so be sure to visit howtofairplainfield.com for a complete list of workshops! There is something for everyone! Earlier this year, the Plainfield Library, Plainfield Park District, and Village of Plainfield surveyed residents on what workshop topics they might like to see and four major topics emerged from the survey: gardening and landscaping, home improvement/renovation, cooking, and crafts. Attendees will find all of these topics and more. Home gardeners can attend the Fair to learn how to improve their gardens by composting, befriending bees, and attracting butterflies and birds to their yard. Plus, let the experts teach you how to design a fall planter, add a water feature to your backyard, or build a raised garden bed. While DIYers can learn how to create color flow throughout the home, how to install that gorgeous tile backsplash you’ve always wanted, or how to focus on accessories to help bring your rooms alive! For all of you home cooks (or aspiring home cooks), attend the Fair to learn how to make your own craft beer, fun, fall desserts and Halloween treats, and life-giving salads. For all of you with picky eaters in the family, we have a class on how to sneak fall veggies into your meals! Finally, top it all off by learning how to frost the perfect cupcake. Finally, if crafts are your passion, get help you with your painting skills, learn how to make handmade greeting cards, or learn how to knit or crochet. We’re also excited to host classes on 3-D printers and drones. This is your opportunity to see these amazing advances in technology up close! This is just a sampling of what you’ll find at the Fair, register today at howtofairplainfield.com. Due to space availability and anticipated popularity, we recommend registering early! The How-To Fair is flexible to fit everyone’s schedule. Each workshop is 1 hour, so join us for 1, 5, or 7, one-hour sessions; whatever your interest and schedule allows. Classes are open to adults and teens over 12. All of the workshops are conveniently located in Downtown Plainfield at one of three locations: Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street; Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois Street; and the Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. DesPlaines Street. This event is hosted by the Village of Plainfield, the Plainfield Public Library, and the Plainfield Park District.
