The warnings were issued to residential properties for a having water meters obstructed by landscaping. Criminal Investigations Comments: The Criminal Investigation Detectives developed several critical leads that lead to an arrest in an active grand theft investigation. Detectives collaborated with other agencies which assisted in the identification and apprehension of the perpetrator. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 10/05/2018 Arrest DUI Collins Avenue COMMENTS: Bal Harbour police officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with property damage on the 10200 Block of Collins Avenue. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, officers noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver's person. The driver admitted to officers that she had been drinking and agreed to perform field sobriety exercises. The driver was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. Date Incident Type Location 10/05/2018 Hit and Run Property Damage 9700 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour Shops COMMENTS: After paying the parking fees, a shops patron drove through the exit booth prior to the gate barrier arm being raised. The gate arm was damaged and dislodged from the swing arm. The driver failed to remain on the scene and fled the area. The case was assigned to the Bal Harbour police department criminal investigations section for follow up. Date Incident Type Location 10/06/2018 Suspicious Person Bal Harbour Tower, 9999 Collins COMMENTS: Bal Harbour police officers were summoned to the Bal Harbour Tower regarding a suspicious male that entered the property. Bal Harbour officers arrived and was informed by security personnel of an unauthorized male on the pool deck. The male had fled the property prior to police arrived when he was confronted by the security officers. Bal Harbour officers immediately canvassed and were unable to locate the male. Bal Harbour officers broadcasted a description of the male to the local jurisdictions and increased patrol presence in the area. No other incidents were reported. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 10/07/2018 Disturbance Person 34 Bal Bay Drive COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers responded to a disturbance at 34 Bal Bay Drive. Officers arrived and located the parties who were involved in a minor verbal dispute. Prior to officers' arrival, one of the individuals was having an adverse reaction from a prescribed medication. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue responded and evaluated the individual. The verbal dispute was resolved and no further police action was required. Date Incident Type Location 10/11/2018 Arrest/ Fraud & Carry Concealed Firearm 10295 Collins Avenue, Ritz Carlton COMMENTS: Bal Harbour police officers were summoned in regards to fraudulent credit card activity involving a guest. The investigation revealed that the person who committed the fraud was no longer at the hotel. While interviewing three other guests in the room, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered that one of the males was unlawfully carrying a concealing and loaded firearm in his pants waist area. The individual was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. The fraud case was assigned to the Bal Harbour police criminal investigations section for follow up. Date Incident Type Location 10/11/2018 Assist Citizen / Assist Surfside Police 96 Street and Collins Avenue COMMENTS: While conducting routine operations, a Bal Harbour patrol officer observed an elderly person who appeared to be lost and disoriented. The elderly person was wearing pajamas and no shoes, said that he is a Surfside resident but was unable to recall his home address. Utilizing investigative means, Bal Harbour and Surfside officers worked together and discovered his home address. Officers transported him back home where he was reunited with family members.
