Weekly Summary Report
Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The Code Enforcement Unit issued one violation and three warnings within the gated community this week. The
violation was issued to a residential property for having an obstructed water meter which was hindering the replacement
of the meter. This property had been previously warned and had failed to correct the issue. Additionally, there were
two warnings issued to residential properties for obstructed water meters. These properties have been given time to
correct the issue. The final warning was issued to a construction site after workers were discovered on the site after
permitted hours.
Criminal Investigations
Comments:
The Criminal Investigation Division responded to an injury scene resulting from persons trapped under a van. Three
men were attempting to change a flat tire when they slid under the van to lower its spare tire. Their actions caused
the carjack to fail and the van fell upon the men. One of the men was able to slide out and run for help. Mall security
guards rushed to the scene and worked together to lift the van off of the trapped men. One man was airlifted to the
Ryder Trauma Center with extensive facial injuries. The second man was transported to Aventura Hospital with
compression injuries. Both men are expected to make a full recovery. If not for the quick actions of the mall security
officers, both men may have died at the scene.
