The warnings were all issued to residential properties whose water meters were obstructed and hindering public works efforts in upgrading existing water meters. Criminal Investigations Comments: The Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating three vehicle break-ins that occurred in the residential area. The targeted vehicles were unlocked and the incidents appear to be the work of a car -hopper. Car -hopping is a common crime technique by which criminals target vehicles left unlocked. The Criminal Investigations Division identified a subject of a grand theft that occurred at a retail location in the shops. The suspect was captured on video and subsequently identified. Detectives are working with other jurisdictions to locate and arrest the suspect. The Criminal Investigations Division created a crime prevention workshop addressing common scams affecting persons in South Florida. The public will be invited to attend and will learn how to avoid being a victim of these types of schemes. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date 11/05/2018 Incident Type Theft • Bal Harbour Shops COMMENTS: Officers were summoned to Agent Provocateur regarding a theft. The store manager told officers that subsequent to an audit she discovered some merchandise missing from the floor. Surveillance video shows four suspects enter the store and begin to look at merchandise. Shortly after entering the store, the suspects are seen on video taking two pieces of merchandise and concealing them as they walk out of the store. The Criminal Investigations Division will conduct a follow-up investigation. 11/06/2018 „irt Vehicle Burglary 56 Camden Drive COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers were summoned to 56 Camden Drive regarding a vehicle burglary. Upon the officer's arrival, the resident told the officer that sometime during the night someone entered her unlocked vehicle and removed cash from the center console. Further investigation revealed two other unlocked vehicles at 57 Camden Court and 114 Park Drive were also burglarized. The suspect entered the unlocked vehicles and removed items from the center consoles. Bal Harbour Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and conducting a follow- up investigation. No other incidents were reported. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report '� %_ 11/08/2018 Arrest 200 Park Drive COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers received a call regarding a suspicious person in the area of 200 Park Drive. Bal Harbour officers arrived and located a male loitering in the greenspace near the perimeter wall. Further investigation revealed the male was issued a trespass warning prohibiting him from entering the residential district. The male was arrested and transported to jail. 11/08/2018 DUI Arrest 10400 Collins Avenue COMMENTS: While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Collins Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver of the vehicle was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
