Subject: Code Violations - St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort
The purpose of this Letter to Council is to inform you of several code violations issued to
the St. Regis property for unpermitted work.
As part of an ongoing process between the St. Regis and the Village's Building
Department, Village staff has been addressing several unpermitted projects which
occurred on their property over the past several years. The projects included the building
of retail space, conference rooms and administrative offices in what was previously
common areas. In addition to the adjoining of adjacent units to create singular suites and
the relocation of the boiler room.
In order to have these projects enter the regulatory process the Code Enforcement Unit in
conjunction with the Building Department issued ten (10) notices of violations addressing
these projects. The St. Regis has been given twenty-one (21) days to obtain permits for
these projects. In the event that they do not comply with this deadline, the violations will
be forwarded to the Village Special Master for a hearing which could include the
imposition of per diem fines in addition to enhanced permit fees.
