AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 68 -270 OF THE
CITY'OF TEMPLE CITY BY ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY ELECTRICAL CODE AS CONTAINED
IN THE 1972 EDITION OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
ELECTRICAL LAWS AND PUBLISHED BY THE JOURNAL OF
COMMERCE AND INDEPENDENT REVIEW, AND MAKING
OTHER AMENDMENTS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 68 -270 entitled "Electrical Code"
adopted July 16, 1968, and subsequent amendments set forth in
Ordinance No. 71 -325 adopted June 1, 1971, are hereby amended by
adopting by reference, except ,as hereafter provided, that certain
Electrical Code known and designated as the Los Angeles County
Electrical Code as published in the June 21, 1972 edition of the
Journal of Commerce and Independent Review published at 210
South Spring Street, Los Angeles, and such code shall be and
become the Electrical Code of the City of Temple City; regulating
the installation, arrangement, alteration, repair, use and
operation of electric wiring, connections, fixtures and other
electrical appliances on premises within the City of Temple City,
and providing for the issuance of permits and the collection of
fees therefor.
Three copies of said Los Angeles County Electrical Laws have been
deposited in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Temple
City and shall be at all times maintained by said clerk for use
and examination by the public.
Said edition of the Los Angeles County Electrical Code,
except as hereafter provided, is hereby substituted for, and shall
take the place of the Electrical Code set forth in Section 8200
et. seq. of the Temple City Municipal Code.
SECTION 2. Whenever any of the following names or terms are
used in said Los Angeles County Electrical. Code, each such name
or term shall be deemed and construed to have the meaning: ascribed
to it in this section as follows:
"Chief Electrical Inspector" shall;:mean the County :Engineer
of the County of Los Angeles except in Section 1.04 of said
Electrical Code.
"County," "County of Los Angeles" or "unincorporated . area .of
the County of Los Angeles" shall mean the City of Temple City.
"Maintenance Electrician" shall mean a person holding a valid
Certificate of Registration as Maintenance Electrician issued by
the County of Los Angeles as set forth in Sections 3.04 (b) and
3.08 (c) of said Los Angeles County Electrical Code.
SECTION 3. Section 5.01 of the Electrical Code of the City
of Temple City shall read as follows:
Section 5.01. Violations and Penalties.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be punishable by a
fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment in the
County Jail for a period of not more than six months,
or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each person,
firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty . of a separate
offense for each day or portion thereof during which
said violation continues and shall be punishable there-
for as herein provided.

SECTION 4. The City. Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and to its approval by the Mayor and shall
cause the same to be published in the Temple City Times, a
newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in the City of Temple City.

I DO HEREBY certify that the foregoing Ordinance, being
Ordinance No. 72 -359, was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Temple City held on the 1st
day of August, 1972, and was duly passed, approved and adopted
by said Council, approved and signed by the Mayor and attested
by the City Clerk, at a regular meeting of the said City Council
held on the 23rd day of August , 1972, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen- Dennis, Gilbertson, Merritt, Tyrell, Briggs
NOES: Councilmen -None
