The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the
Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
Comments:
The Code Enforcement Unit issued one warning this week. The warning was issued to the Bellini property regarding
the application for a permit after emergency repairs to the property's HVAC system.
Criminal Investigations
Comments:
The Criminal Investigations Division expericend a reduction in cases this week, as a result, the detectives focused
their efforts on follow-up invesitgations on open criminal cases.
The Criminal Investigations Division presented a Community Crime Prevention Workshop to educate residents about
common telephone and internet scams. The workshop was presented in the Council chambers on Thursday,
November 29, at 7:00 p.m. The Criminal Investigations Division expects to present at least three workshops during
the year.

Motor Vehicle Crash
Collins Avenue and Harbour Way East
COMMENTS:
Bal Harbour officers responded to a traffic crash with injuries, upon the officers' arrival, an elderly male sustained
injuries as a result of a rear -end vehicle collision. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue treated all parties on scene and the male
driver was air -lifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Center where he remains in stable condition.

Motor Vehicle Crash
10200 Block of Collins Avenue
COMMENTS:
A juvenile on a skateboard was southbound on the Westside of the Haulover Bridge. Upon reaching the bottom of the
span, the juvenile made a turn without stopping and sideswiped a vehicle traveling south. The juvenile was treated by
Miami -Dade Fire Rescue for minor abrasions and released on scene. Bal Harbour officers contacted the juvenile's
parents and gave him a courtesy ride home.

NE 163 Street Oceanside
COMMENTS:
The Bal Harbour Marine Patrol Unit responded to an emergency "May Day" request for assistance issued by the United
States Coast Guard regarding a sinking vessel in the Atlantic Ocean near Sunny Isles Beach. Bal Harbour marine
officers arrived along with Miami -Dade Fire Rescue personnel and assisted in the rescue of the two occupants. The
vessel was towed from the area and the Bal Harbour marine officers transported the occupants to Haulover Marina. No
injuries were reported.

Traffic Incident
Collins Avenue
COMMENTS:
A group of approximately 75 ATV's, dirt bikes and motorcycles were observed traveling south on Collins Avenue
entering Bal Harbour Village's jurisdiction. The operators committed various traffic infractions as they proceeded south
on Collins Avenue. Bal Harbour officers immediately responded to the area to deter the riders from entering restricted
areas in the Village. No injuries or damages were reported.

COMMENTS:
While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer observed a vehicle committing a traffic infraction and
conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the traffic stop it was discovered the driver was operating a vehicle with
a suspended drivers' license and in possession of marijuana. The driver was arrested and issued multiple traffic
citations.

Intracoastal Waterway
COMMENTS:
While patrolling the Intracoastal Waterways, the Bal Harbour marine officers stopped a vessel that was speeding in
manatee zone. During the the vessel stop, it was discovered the operator was in possession of marijuana. The operator
of the vessel was arrested and released on scene on a Promise to Appear in court at a later date.

2 Harbour Way, Gated Security District
COMMENTS:
The on duty Kent security guard summoned Bal Harbour police regarding two men on bicycles that entered the gated
community. Bal Harbour officers located and made contact with the two individuals. The men were tourists out for a
bike ride and did not realize they had to check in at the guard house. Officers conducted a routine criminal history
check and escorted the male out of the gated community.
